The paper presents the current distribution of Polish localities for Oxythyrea funesta, a beetle from the family Scarabaeidae. Potential causes for changes in its distribution were indicated, as a consequence of which the species previously considered to be in decline or even extinct in Poland, became a common insect, dynamically expanding its distribution range. Damage caused by this beetle was characterised along with potential consequences for forestry resulting from the increasing population of this species. Information on new localities of O. funesta was also given
