Silvarum Colendarum Ratio et Industria Lignaria

The work presents a review of the literature concerning the industrial use of paulownia genus. The purpose of the work was to perform the current state of knowledge and potentiality of planting industrial hybrids of paulownia. Work presents botanical affiliation, a brief historical outline, climate requirements and experience with young hybrid crops. Based on the literature review, it can be concluded that the main purpose of cultivation in short cycles, is the production of wood pulp for the needs of: pulp and energy industry and less for  the other branches of the wood industry. It is worth noting that the given technical parameters, chemical composition, requirements for growing conditions and biomass production, differ for different species of paulownia as well as for different hybrids. It cannot be clearly stated that Paulownia plant is a universal species and gives the same effects in various conditions, but an attempt should be taken to determine the suitability of selected species or their hybrids for specific purposes.
