Forest soils of the Gardnieńsko-Łebska Spit on the background of some Polish inland dunes in the context of forest natural regeneration
Abstract
The article is devoted to the soils of the Gardnieńsko-Łebska Spit (Mierzeja Gardnieńsko-Łebska) and is the part of a broader research, the aim of which is to determine the reasons of the lack of natural regeneration of forest trees in pine stands of the Słowiński National Park. In this paper attention has been focused on the effect of pH, Na+ and K+, conductivity, salinity, and grain size of soils. The results show that there is no reason to conclude that these features limit natural regeneration of the forest. Equally the stability of soils of Spit in the pH range in relation to the 1997 data has been shown. Attention has been also drawn to the similarity of soil properties of the Gardnieńsko-Łebska Spit and the Curonian Spit (Lithuania).
