Changes species composition of urban forests and forests managed because of anthropogenic pressure

Abstract

Anthropogenic activities have a wide spectrum of impact on natural ecosystems, especially in cities. This article presents a study on the diversity of the species composition of dendroflora and herbaceous vegetation in selected municipal forests of the Bochnia city and forests located in the Brzesko Forest District. All forests represented the oak-hornbeam habitat. Species are grouped according to the degree of compatibility with the natural habitat, and their frequency of occurrence in individual research facilities has been determined The research results showed that species of dendroflora and herbaceous vegetation incompatible with the natural habitat occurred in all facilities, only with varying frequency. It should be noted that tree species, typical for oak-hornbeam forests, i.e. hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) and pedunculate oak (Quercus robur), were less likely to recover in the layer of shrubs and undergrowth in urban forests. The same regularity observed among the undergrowth species. It proves, among others about the fact that the habitat of urban forests is more transformed and the impact of anthropogenic activity is stronger on these objects than on forests, located outside the city.
