THE EFFECT OF HURGAN ON CHANGES IN TIMBER SALES PRICES AND THE FINANCIAL RESULT OF THE GNIEZNO FOREST DISTRICT
Abstract
The paper presents an analysis of the sale of damaged wood harvested after the hurricane that took place on August 11-12, 2017. The spatial and temporal scope of the work concerned the areas of the Gniezno Forest District and the period from January 2016 to July 2019. The obtained data was generated from the Information System of the State Forests (SILP). The analysis of the obtained results shows that in most cases there was a decrease in the average prices of wood raw material by tree species. This was mainly due to the deterioration of the quality of the raw material. However, the increased supply of wood raw material due to natural disasters resulted in a clear drop in the prices of only some types of wood. Increased wood sales were reflected in the surge in net profit for 2017 and 2018
