Three baiting techniques for pathogen detection were applied by i) placing soil samples in holes drilled in apples, ii) placing apples in watered soil samples iii) using leaf traps. In the soil of the Trawice forest nursery, the following Oomycetes were identified: Pythium sylvaticum, Pythium ultimum, Pythium ultimum var. ultimum and Phytopythium vexans. The most frequently occurring species was P. ultimum, and the least frequent was P. sylvaticum. The above pathogen detection methods are readily available, fast and affordable. Using them in forest nurseries might be helpful in determining the occurrence of Oomycetes. ER -
