The paper presents characteristics of common ash occurrence in individual stand layers on the moist broadleaved forest habitat. Presented results are knowledge complementation about the intensified dy- ing process of the species in question. Material and methods. The research material was collected on 10 randomly selected sites located in the Babki and Konstantynowo Forest Districts and in the Poznań Municipal Forests. The occurrence of common ash in individual stand layers was described on the area of 0.2 ha. The health status in undergrowth, under- story and in natural regeneration layer according to Kowalski methodology was also assessed. The analysis was supplemented with an assessment of the appropriateness of the allocated site type according to the Habi- tat Basics of Silviculture and the important aspects of the soil environment for common ash (soil type and subtype, calcium carbonate content, pH and soil humidity). Results and conclusions. There was no increased occurrence of ash dying in the undergrowth, understory and in the natural regeneration layer. Common ash in the natural regeneration and understory phase was the most promising element in the structure. Habitat conditions were comparable in selected areas, no significant differences in type and subtype of soil, pH and humidity were observed. The absence of calcium carbonate in two cases was not a limiting factor for the appearance of common ash, which could be important information in planning the renewal of the species in question. ER -
